Welcome to Adventures in Art History!

I teach a hands-on, interactive, technology based art course out of my home in Eagle Mountain, Utah.  I'm excited to offer this course to homeschool students in the area.  We will be exploring the world of art together.  Each lesson will cover a time period or movement in art history.

We will talk about cave art and make our own stories in pictures on stone tiles.  Egyptian art will come alive as we make drawings on papyrus and create jewelry inspired by this ancient culture.  Modern art classes will be full of expression and experimentation. We will draw, paint, sculpt and create. We'll even learn about color theory and the basic principles and elements of art along the way.

This course will also make use of some awesome technology.  We will draw on tablets, manipulate our work with some amazing apps, and even make digital sculptures.  When we learn about kinetic art we will create our own hanging art and use digital cutting machine software to design and cut out precise shapes to balance on thin wires, just like the mobiles of Alexander Calder!

Each student will create a digital portfolio of all the work they complete during the course.  The portfolio will be a wonderful keepsake that will allow them to look back at what they accomplished and have an easy way show it off to others.  Finally, they will also create two beautiful capstone works of art that you'll want to display at home.

I am so excited to start this creative adventure with you!  I hope you'll join me!
